Jim Oher, CSW
Jim Oher, CSW, is a workplace intervention coach who has over thirty years of experience working both within and consulting to corporations large and small, as well as to arts organizations throughout the world.
Jim works closely with senior leaders and their teams to uncover and address the difficult and sometimes messy issues that prevent business goal attainment. His extensive corporate and clinical experience allows him to quickly assess workplace situations and co-develop an action plan with the client. He also has expertise in the areas of resiliency and substance abuse.
Jim's ability to understand his clients' stated and unstated issues, needs and professional environment is particularly effective in challenging situations involving conflict resolution. Focusing on "hardlines" the name of his blog and those difficult yet necessary positions that produce discomfort, uncertainly and anxiety he helps individuals and organizations resolve issues, create an enhanced working environment and achieve bottom line results.
Jim has a diverse background as a corporate manager, executive consultant, accredited psychotherapist, psychoanalyst and group trainer/facilitator. He is also president of Oher & Associates, a management consultation firm focusing on collaboration and conflict challenges within individuals, teams and organizations. Business coaching and leadership development are also featured services of his firm.
A leader in his field, Jim employs the latest theories of personal and organizational dynamics, psychology of motivation and adult learning processes. He has worked across a spectrum of industries and organizations. In addition to individuals and teams, Jim has worked with the boards of directors of several organizations to review their structure, policies, strategies and goals. Jim is also the author and editor of several books on business workplace dynamics.
Jim holds masters and bachelor's degrees from New York University where he received a National Institute of Mental Health Scholarship. He completed his psychoanalytic training at the National Psychological Association of Psychoanalysis where he was the recipient of the Robert M. Linder Scholarship. He has been on the faculty of the New York University School of Social Work and the William Alanson White Organizational Studies Program. For many years, Jim served on the board of directors for the National Hemophilia Foundation's New York City chapter and the Rye Arts Center. |
