M. Settel, M.D.
Kenneth Settel, M.D. is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst by training.
He has worked with individuals and organizations around improving
manager-subordinate relationships, establishing feedback and evaluation
processes, leadership development, management coaching, and creating
effective partnership teams. He has also worked with executives individually,
assisting them in managing effectively, and in developing their own
career. He is also a principal and cofounder of Spectrum, OED, Inc.,
a consulting firm that works with organizations to facilitate and
develop effective organizational processes, improve interpersonal
relationships, and assist with leadership development.
Dr. Settel has a private clinical practice in which he treats adults,
children, couples, and families. He is a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry
at Harvard Medical School, where he currently teaches a course on
Leadership to fourth year Harvard psychiatry residents. He is a staff
member at Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital, and is also on the faculty
of the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England. Dr. Settel is a member
of the American Psychoanalytic Association and is currently chairman
of the Committee on Corporate and Organizational Consultation.
Prior to 1992, for over ten years, Dr. Settel was an Associate of
the Levinson Institute (TLI), an organizational consulting and executive
education group. At TLI he taught in the leadership development program,
worked with executives, lawyers, and physicians, and consulted to
numerous businesses and organizations. His consulting work has included
management coaching, performance appraisal and feedback, team-building,
and facilitating organizational change. He participated in the development
of a program on Work Family Balance with the Center for Creative
Leadership, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Prior to 1996, Dr. Settel was on the staff of the Center for Physician
Development. At the Center for Physician Development, he assisted
physicians through career transitions, malpractice lawsuits, and
consulted to physicians in organizations around management issues
and personal career development.
Dr. Settel is a graduate of Columbia College, Dartmouth Medical School
and the University of Washington Medical School. He has completed
residency training in both adult and child psychiatry at McLean Hospital
at Harvard Medical School, and completed training as a psychoanalyst
at the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England, East. |
